Greeting 529ers. We have had a flurry of activity at the start of 2014. If you are on the quarter system (Charley) you are entering the winter quarter right but if you are on the semester system you are entering the spring semester. I guess semester people never do experience a winter...

We are tryng to pay out of the 529 account, but as this is the first time it has been a hassle. I think most financial institutions are set up for reasonable ease of use and speed - two words not in MerrillEdge's vocab.

In any case, Charley has started his winter quarter and we paid his tuition out of the trust with the 529 check expecting to reach UCLA next week - past the Jan 17th deadline. So I am thinking he can keep it and use it for next quarter!

Keith is starting his semester at Golden Gate Law School and we helped out there.

And Anni is scheduled to return to Berkeley next week as Annabelle and ready to continue her studies in Gender and Women studies - tuition paid by her Guff 529 account.

Matt is starting his school soon but can perhaps survive until close to summer to need more money when he starts is unpaid internship.
