2017’s first GALETTE, ART! In GV, will be a deep-dive into the concentrated focus of the artist.  10 searing visions, 20 hands in concert directing Shazaammm! So many years of expression experience will all come together for 2 ½ days of intense joy in the design and creation of a trellis for the elements.  Welding is sewing with fire.  Materials, a palette, tools and vision.  And lots of food.  Sustained creative energy burns a lot of calories.  Transforming junk metal into an arresting permanent visionary piece of art.  Re-cycling shapes and intent celebrating the intrinsic properties of metal—flexibility, stamina, oxidation, strength, line weight, mass, utility and fantasy.  Did I mention food?

As the weekend approaches, let us begin to bring our artistic vision(s) and idea(ls) to the forefront of our minds. We have all signed up for this galette – surely not just for the food or scenery – but for the opportunity to practice art-making as a family. Some questions to ask yourself as you peruse the photos our host has shared:

-          What is art? To me?

-          Why is art important OR what is the value of art?

-          What do I do in my life that I don’t call art but actually is?

-          How can be artistic with our food when we’re there?

-          What role do family / love / other people play in art making?

-          What’s your favorite color?

-          What are you doing? What are you really doing?

-          What are you hoping to play with?

-          What other art, besides cooking, welding, and glass, can we do while we’re together?
