ART IN GV!
DATES: President’s Day Holiday, February 17 (Friday) through February 20 (Monday) but you can come earlier and stay longer if you want!
PLACES: Caroline’s House and Studio, and Gerson’s Junk Yard
REASONS: to get Charles out of Chicago in the winter. AND to WELD SOME JUNK! And create a trellis for the west side of the GV house. And make some glass.
Proposed Budget: will include transportation (air fare and gas), food, a trailer to haul junk, and maybe rental of welding protective equipment like helmets, gloves, leather aprons.
The west side of my house will have a support structure/trellis in place by President’s Day 2017, the posts 7’ to 8’ apart creating 5 spaces roughly 7’ x 9’ –the canvas—for metal sculpture to be welded in place. The ART part is to respond to challenging design issues like extreme wind, extreme sun, and cat claw vine, with welded junk art; fused glass can be incorporated into our solutions as well as rusty bedsprings and twisted fence panels.
The schedule for the four days will be posted as we get closer. It will include three days of collaborative design working with glass and steel, finishing up on Monday morning. Roy will bring his MIG welder, a lot of patience, and his camper trailer. My house can sleep 10/feed 14.
